Longing in the Dark
Sunshine,
my passion is greatest
when I dream of you.
Must I always feel your warmth,
and be lit,
from afar?
Must I live without your radiant body
against my drab surface?
Gravitational tides tear me up inside.
Must I remain trapped in orbit around another,
one brightly lit and beautiful,
but lacking the passion I feel from you?
Will time and chance ever bring us together,
my sweet Sunshine?
Or will I always wonder,
as I wander,
what life could have been
within your warm embrace?
Marry me and be mine
my mind’s silent screams say.
Stay with me until the universe fades away,
my heart pleads.
For you,
if only I could,
I would give up the Earth and stars
to be forever
your Moonlight lover.
